christmas in austin: part 2

on monday we did some shopping (mostly browsing) at the shops that line congress avenue and had some yummy mexican food for lunch! here’s some pictures i took that day!

i don’t want to know what’s going on in that bird brain.

also on monday, we exchanged gifts with trevor and anna since they were leaving that night to head to anna’s parent’s house for the rest of the week. i love opening presents on multiple days over the holiday season!

tuesday morning, i decided i wanted to take our dogs to one of those self serve dog wash places. bella did fine for the most part, but ellie had a panic attack. i thought this method would be easier than bathing her at home, but i’m not so sure anymore. i might try it one more time at the place in our neighborhood just to double check.

we were all slow to get up christmas morning (except for my dad). we sat around drinking coffee while my mom made scones. while the scones were cooking/cooling we opened presents. it was fun times! here are some pictures!

dad gets a watch!

mom gets trash bags (it was really a lunch box)!

casey gets a record!

we all got lots of super great presents! after we cleaned up the wrapping paper mess, we enjoyed scones, mimosas, and conversation together. that afternoon we did the only thing there is to do on christmas: go to the movie theater. we saw the hobbit, which i enjoyed.

thursday was mostly spent shopping and running errands. i don’t even remember where all we went, but we were out for hours and all so ready to get home and relax! and relax we did! we gathered outside and warmed ourselves with spirits and fire! 🙂

on friday we headed over to chelsea’s and brandon’s house to see some recent renovations they’d done. it’s such a cute house…definitely not cookie cutter. we all went to lunch at a place called hopdoddy burger bar and it was GOOD…real good. after lunch we did a little more shopping, went home and rested, then headed out to dinner. every year for the last 4 or 5 years, our family has dinner at trattoria lisina during the holiday season. it’s a beautiful italian restaurant and vineyard. the food i got this time was the best ever: butternut squash soup, a grilled asparagus salad with sun dried tomato pesto and basil pesto, texas goat cheese, baby field greens & balsamic vinaigrette, and sea salted chocolate caramel cake.

chelsea enjoys something delicious!

casey ate too much. at least he’s cute, though.

the drive home went by quick and before i knew it, casey and i were in our room packing our stuff to leave the next morning.

my time in texas always goes way way too fast, but time flies when you’re having fun, and i definitely had lots of fun! i’m so lucky to have such an awesome family!
